IT STARTED WITH AN OUTRAGEOUS IDEA

On a horseback trip through the Tetons, the kind of trip where wide-open sky and good company strip away every excuse, a group of friends decided they were going to build a world-class bourbon brand. From scratch. No distilling experience. No family recipe. No safety net. They set out to honor something bigger than bourbon — the American Dream itself. The belief that if you're willing to do the work, anything is possible.

BUILT ON 9/12 -
THE AMERICAN SPIRIT

The name Horse Soldier comes from a piece of American history that carries weight far beyond a single moment. After September 11, 2001, teams of Green Berets rode on horseback across impossible terrain in Afghanistan. Their courage earned them the name Horse Soldiers. Their story became a book, a Hollywood film, and a monument at Ground Zero.

But that’s not the whole story. On September 12th, the whole country answered. First responders, volunteers, neighbors — ordinary people stepped up to serve their communities. That day reminds us what Americans are made of. It's the reason this brand exists. Not to honor a single hero, but to celebrate the people who carry that spirit forward.

LIVE LEGENDARY

Most legends don't happen on battlefields. They happen in classrooms, hospitals, farms, factories, police cars, firehouses, small businesses, and around family dinner tables. Our dream is for every person who encounters this brand to believe that the legacy they want to leave is within reach. That's what it means to Live Legendary.

COMING HOME

Every story needs a place to call home. Ours is 240 acres of Kentucky land in Somerset, overlooking Lake Cumberland. The Green Berets trained on the banks of the Cumberland River before their deployment. Twenty years later, Horse Soldier came back to build something permanent. A working distillery, a gathering place, a piece of land where the next chapter is being written.

Horse Soldier Farms opened on July 4, 2026. Built to last generations.

SERVICE IN NEW FORM

Our mission continues through Team American Freedom, the 501(c)(3) we founded to continue out service.

Since founding, we have hosted over 300 veterans and their families in Normandy, delivered 250 educational seminars to students, and directed more than $2 million toward preservation and outreach.

The work looks different every time and it never stops. Recovering the remains of a fallen soldier in Saipan. Standing over Normandy in a commemorative jump. Maintaining America's Response Monument at Ground Zero. Showing up, in every form the mission takes.

Every bottle you buy is a part of this. With the sale of each Liberty Edition, a donation supports the preservation of America's historic landmarks.

WATCH OUR MISSION TO SAIPAN VIDEO

The team has an annual excursion in the spirit of service. The Joint-mission Sapian aimed to recover an underwater wreck of a downed WWII aircraft, idenfiy the pilot, and bring their family closure.

DID YOU KNOW?

The number 12 is woven into everything at Horse Soldier Farms. Twelve fermenters, a grove of twelve Oak trees, and twelve blades flanking the distillery — all in permanent honor of the twelve Horse Soldiers who rode into Afghanistan after 9/11. Nothing here is accidental.
